The most perfect dessert possibly purchased from anywhere in the West Village. If you don't get the Crème Brûlée you're missing out on a cupcake that is better than Magnolia, better than Crumbs, and (dare I say it? My LA ties will disown me) better than Sprinkles.
I used to live just a couple blocks away from Molly's and quickly realized how dangerous that was. Before tasting Molly's I thought I had experienced the ultimate flavor in the cupcake world with Sprinkles' Red Velvet. And really, I told myself, what could top the original from the world's first cupcake shop?
But when my roommate bought me my first Crème Brûlée cupcake from Molly's as a small little gift, I was officially converted. Besides the fact that the top of the cupcake is perfectly brûléed to create a crust of sugar that fractures deliciously with each bite, the cupcake is filled with thick vanilla custard that takes it to another level. Surprisingly, the cake itself remains perfectly firm and moist. Literally the most ideal dessert.
The bakery itself is whimsically decorated, with swings from the ceiling taking the place of stools. Because of their creative and diverse selection of classic and center-filled cupcakes, Molly's is truly a special place for the perfect couple bites of dessert.
