A casual, very vegan-friendly corner of NoLIta that will dazzle any vegetable lover over breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

The Butcher's Daughter's success lies a lot in their coherent, bright, and farm-friendly menu that consistently attracts the young and healthy. A standout in the lunch menu is the Tacos Verdes, which features seasoned ground tempeh that tastes and feels a little like your grandmother's best vegan meatloaf wrapped up in lettuce 'tortillas' and topped with buttery avocado crema, shaved radish, and cilantro, hitting just the right crispy and soft textures. The Avocado Toast is also a house favorite, with a mountain of perfectly ripe avocado smashed with curry, cilantro, mustard seeds, and lime on a slice of thick multigrain bread.

Brunch basically involves adding an egg to the main entrees, but all the dishes are nonetheless clean and quite visually appealing, making the wholesome veggies truly standout. The juices actually add a lot to the diversity of the menu, and as a recent green juice convert, I was pleasantly surprised by the Simple Green with cucumber, kale, and green apple, which hit just the right notes of sweetness for someone who is still a little wary of pureed kale.
